Recently, the Federation of Thai Industries’ Printing and Packaging Industry Club estimated the packaging business to grow by 5-10% this year, up from 2020. This figure is based on the forecasted 12-14% increase in exports this year coupled with the rise of online shopping especially in the food sector which consequently contribute to more demand for packaging products. Nevertheless, the continued global effort for clean energy and sustainable green trend to stall the climate change is an important factor that modern manufacturers need to consider. It is therefore recommended to start adopting eco-friendly technologies that use renewable energy and bioplastic materials that are biodegradable to enhance manufacturers’ own long-term sustainable business as well as avoiding high taxation from the European Union or other countries that will impose on products still used traditional machinery and petroleum based plastics.*
