We can’t deny the effect of COVID-19 on current industrial trends and product development in the field of surface treatment and coatings. Hence the focus has been shifted to antiviral coatings in addition to previously existing antimicrobial coatings, with an aim to destroy these viruses to prevent the infection and the spread of diseases. Already, a wide variety of applications would benefit from this technology including air conditioning and heating systems, medical implants, food processing facilities and equipment, home appliances, ship hulls, and personal care among others. Several different kinds of nanoparticles such as nanoscale spurious oxide, silver, zinc oxide, quaternary ammonium cations, and gold on silica have proven to be effective to inactivate viruses, including SARS-CoV-2.*
