VIETNAM MIGHT BECOME LARGEST MANUFACTURING FACILITY OF SAMSUNG
Samsung Electronics will close its sole Chinese TV factory in November and shift part of its operations to Vietnam while re-categorising its factory in Ho Chi Minh City as an export processing enterprise.

On the other hand, in Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has just proposed the prime minister to switch the label of TV screen producer Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) from a manufacturing to an export processing enterprise (EPE) in order to fulfil the city’s commitment to create a favourable investment environment for the South Korean conglomerate.

This will turn Vietnam into Samsung's export base to the global market and in turn benefit the local suppliers of the South Korean giant, the proposal said.

RACE FOR 6G: US, JAPAN,
KOREA & CHINA

As fifth-generation wireless networks start to go mainstream, competition to develop 6G has begun, with Samsung Electronics and Huawei Technologies at the forefront, especially in the base stations that will form the backbone of future networks. Those companies provide leadership to South Korea and China, respectively. Japan aims to play catch-up, while the U.S. desperately pushes to regain leadership in innovation.

Work to standardize technological specifications for sixth-generation networks is expected to begin around 2023. That move likely will kick-start development of equipment and parts ahead of anticipated commercialization around 2027.
