The Ericsson Mobility Report has disclosed in its latest edition that since 2011, the rate of internet usage worldwide has grown nearly 300 times, with a number of 5G subscribers reaching 660 million accounts by the end of 2021. This figure underlines the fact that 5G is the next generation of data network with the fastest adoption rate as a result of lower prices of 5G devices in China and the USA. In addition, Ericsson also forecasts that the 5G network will become the main network to access various technologies worldwide by 2027 with Southeast Asia and Oceania showing the fastest growth rate of internet usage per smartphone. Since Thailand is an important center of the manufacturing industry in this region, the Thai government has also promoted the adoption of 5G to drive the economy by focusing on the new intelligent industries including the use of industrial robots, smart factories, autonomous vehicles, smart farming, remote surgery, smart offices and many more.
