Recent global movement in the electronics sphere reflects positive signs for Thailand’s electronics industry. According to Canalys1, global smartphone shipments increased 12% in Q2 of 2021 as a result of worldwide vaccines rolled out and the new normal policies. What’s more, all leading smartphone brands are seeking component supply amid global shortages2 which could give a huge boost to Thailand’s electronics and digital device part suppliers. At the same time, shipments of desktops, notebooks and workstations rose 13% year on year and hit 82.3 million units globally in Q2 of 2021, driven by strong demand from the commercial segment. To maintain the productivity and delivery of parts during this Covid-19 pandemic, the Centre for the Administration of the Situation due to the Outbreak of the Communicable Disease Coronavirus has issued the “Bubble and Seal” measure for the factories and labor camps to safeguard against the contagion and prevent the spread of the virus, which will help Thailand’s electronics manufacturing sector to carry on and stay in the global electronics supply chain.
