In May 2021, the Office of Industrial Economics (OIE) revealed that the production Index of the rubber and plastics industry had increased by 24.26% compared to the previous year. This trend is replicated by other industries that incorporate plastics materials in their production/assembly lines including the motorcycle industry (167.50%), the automotive industry (154.8%), air conditioning (89.59%), and construction materials (11.01%).

In addition, the Plastics Intelligent Center has estimated that a value of the plastics industry in Thailand in 2021 will be approximately 1.043 trillion baht, an increase of 3.1% from last year. Meanwhile, the export of Polylactic acid plastic pellets (PLA) will increase by 16.6%, generating more than 2,700 million baht in revenue. These growths come about from the consumers’ awareness regarding the environment, as we can see that many conglomerates have switched to using recyclable packaging for their products.

Even amidst these challenges, opportunities always present themselves. Let’s boost Thailand’s plastics competitiveness at “InterPlas Thailand” - ASEAN’s Most Comprehensive Exhibition on Machinery, Technology, Chemicals, and Raw Materials for Plastics Manufacturing.
