Automotive and Plastics Exports Drive Growth of Mold and Die
The mold & die industry in Thailand has been positively impacted by the growth in exports of automobiles and plastic products. Recently, the automotive cluster, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) recently revealed that automotive exports in December 2021 peaked at 101,307 units, or an expansion of 47.93% from the same period last year as a result of availability of parts and semiconductors as well as the increase of exports in all markets. In addition, Krungsri Research projected domestic sales and export volume of plastic products to rise by an average of 2.0-3.0% per year over 2021-2023, while exports is also projected to grow by an average of 2.0-3.0% per year as well. These projections are attributed to the anticipated recovery of downstream industries, including packaging, electrical appliances, construction, auto parts, and medical devices which collectively account for almost 80% of domestic consumption of plastic products.*
