The direction of the Thai plastic industry continues to show positive signs. According to a recent report from the Plastics Institute of Thailand, export from the plastics industry continues to increase.  The cumulative export value of plastic resins in the first seven months of this year grew 40% from the same period last year, while the volume of plastic resins exports in July increased by 6.1% from the previous month, resulting in the 5.1% growth of cumulative export volume in the seven months compared to the same period last year with China as the major market of plastic resins, and the United States as the major market of plastics products. These figures owe their rise to the growth of the downstream industries which include automotive industry, electrical appliances industry, and packaging industry. The Plastics Institute of Thailand concluded that the average export growth in 2021 is higher than the previous year in every month. Consequently, this contributes to the higher expansion rate of 114% for the 7-month cumulative export value than the previous year.
